With the Dyson – V11 Torque Drive, Dyson has addressed some of the issues that we encountered with the Dyson – V10 Absolute vacuum cleaner. There has been a big change in the new torque cleaner head that propels the vacuum ahead, as well as detecting and adapting to the many types of floors it is cleaning (carpet, hardwood, tile). Hoover – SH20030 (Discontinued)

It has since been replaced with a newer model, the Hoover – BH53420PC, ONEPWR Evolve, which has been discontinued.)

We didn’t find the Hoover – SH20030 to be the cheapest model we tested. It was, however, the most effective vacuum at the lower end of the pricing range. In our performance test, it easily cleaned up pet hair and cereal, and we particularly enjoyed that it was able to pick up trash along the walls’ corners (thanks to edge cleaning bristles on the brush roll). In terms of deep cleaning, it fell short of our other top selections, but as a backup vacuum, it’s great.

A simple transfer from one form of flooring to another was all that was needed to go from hard to carpeted floors. It had a low profile and was easily able to get under most pieces of furniture. I found it helpful for moving around furniture and towards the edges thanks to the swivel steering.

It was far lighter than our top-heavy cordless vacuum cleaners, weighing only eight pounds. Most rooms could be reached with its 20-foot rope.

Additionally, the Hoover’s 75.9 dBA noise level is lower than our average rating of 79.4 dBA for all of the vacuums we tested. It’s also lightweight and compact, making it easy to keep on hand for those impromptu pick-ups.

Things we didn’t like

Large debris was easier to remove with the Hoover than tiny dust. There are better options if you’re looking for an all-purpose vacuum that can really get into the crevices of your carpets and rugs.

Large particles were unable to be retained by the machine, which may have been due to the fact that it didn’t remove tiny particles from the carpet in the first place. Consider a model with a more tightly sealed system if you suffer from allergies or breathing difficulties.

How we selected

Performance

Two dogs and a domestic shorthair cat were part of the test household, and the carpet was heavily covered in pet hair when we conducted our research. sand, baking soda (to imitate fine dust), and cereal (big debris) were added to the mixture. We started with empty collecting containers and vacuumed the area for 30 seconds at a time. Each suction was then weighed in grams to see how much it collected.

Because pet hair is naturally lighter than sand or cereal, we also checked the carpet to determine if there was any lingering debris after measuring the contents of each collection container. We were able to determine which vacuums took up more tiny material and which gathered the most pet hair based on the type of debris collected.

Finally, on hard floors, we repeated the experiment. If the vacuums snowplowed (pushed rather than sucked up) the big trash rather than sucking it up, we were aware of this fact.

Pet hair, sand, and baking soda were all easily removed from the brush rolls and filters of the Oreck, Dyson, and Eureka vacuums. There was a lot of pet hair in the filter, which caused it to “backfire,” throwing larger chunks of debris back into the carpet as a result of the hair wrapping itself around it.

Surface pet hair and cereal were easily picked up by the Hoover, but deep-down dirt and debris were left behind. Even better as some of our more expensive finalists, it gathered cereal without snowplowing it across the floor. When we moved the vacuum, larger chunks of debris fell out of the Tineco, which we couldn’t pick up with the Tineco.

Emissions

In order to prevent dust and debris from being spewed back into the air, the greatest vacuums can keep dirt confined in their collection bag or cylinder. With allergies, this is even more critical. We used a Dylos air quality monitor to quantify dust kickback in order to evaluate the filter’s efficacy.

Large particles (PM10) as well as small particles (PM2.5) are both detected by the laser counter (PM2.5). Important features to consider
